Today, 22 July 1898, sculptor Alexander "Sandy" Calder was born. He originated the mobile, enabling millions of otherwise artistically untalented boys and girls to enjoy a nice art project in class. Modern kinetic sculpture is some of the most enjoyable modern art to me. Thanks, Sandy!
